IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ida Mae
Prince
October 11, 1921 – April 14, 2021
Ida Mae Prince, 99 of Colorado Springs, CO passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in Monument, CO. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 23 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Rev. Michelle Witherspoon officiating. Ida Mae will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Julesburg following the service.
Ida Mae was born to Frank E and Theresia (Siegel) Ludington in St. Paul, Nebraska on October 11, 1921, according to Ida Mae, and October 12, 1921, according to her birth certificate. She was the sixth of seven children, having survived them all.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Henry Prince, who were united in marriage in Glendale California on August 1, 1942, after his ship was sunk in the Battle of the Coral Sea. To this union were born three children; David Lee, Daniel Jay and Tanna Lynn; the daughter that she always yearned for. Upon Hank's return to the Navy, Ida Mae stayed in California and lived with his parents until his discharge, and they returned to Julesburg, Colorado. Sometime in 1949, the family moved to Akron.
Ida Mae was an incredible homemaker, always maintaining a modest but pristine home for her husband and children. She was always known for not shying away from an issue she felt unjust and bluntly stating her opinion. "Thinking before you speak" was not often practiced by her but apologies soon followed. She fulfilled her life with hard work. Family dinners often found her in the kitchen, ensuring everyone else was served. She did not know the meaning of relaxing. At 98 and 99 years old she often verbalized her frustration at not accomplishing anything. She would not accept the fact that her body would no longer support her demands.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters Anna, Isabel, Edith and Margarite and brothers Bert and Francis.
Ida Mae is survived by her three children, David (Carol) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Daniel (Orlene) of Ripon, California and Tanna of Sterling, Colorado; 4 grandchildren Angela Prince, Erik (Kristy) Prince, Aaron (Alissa) Prince and Deanna (Craig) Moorehead and 6 great-grandchildren Jacob, Aubrey, Logan, Madelyn, Lydia and Easton.
Contributions may be made in Ida Mae's name to New Century Hospice, 6270 Lehman Dr. #150, Colorado Springs, CO, 80918 or American Cancer Society PO Box 22478,Oklahoma City, OK, 73123.
