Hugh was born September 9, 1930, in Sterling, CO to Ray and Lena Lynch of Crook, CO. He grew up on the farm homesteaded by his grandparents, James and Anna Lynch. The rich heritage of farming and ranching taught him the value of family, of serving God, of community and of hard work. After working on several farms and ranches in the area and serving his country in the Air Force in the Korean War, Hugh came back to Crook, where he met a young schoolteacher, Marion Johnson, and fell in love. The couple married in 1955. After living a year in Crook, Hugh was hired by Baker Oil Tools, training first in Nebraska and later moving to Vernal, Utah. Hugh and Marion and their growing family moved back to Sterling where Hugh would continue to work for Baker through his retirement.
Friends will remember Hugh enjoying bowling and baseball, fishing and camping in the Colorado mountains, as well as his children's many schools and sports activities and the Berean Church activities. These later years Hugh stayed close to home, cherishing Marion in her last days, and relaxing at home with his daughter Donna and her amusing cats, enjoying visits from friends and family.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ray and Lena, wife, Marion, brother, Charles, brother-in-law Errol, and great-grandson, Ethan.
Hugh is survived by his sister, Cheryl of Farmington, NM, sister-in-law: Ruth of Sterling, CO, brother Gary and wife Judy, of Albuquerque, NM; five children: Susan and husband Jim of Denver, CO, Dennis and wife Denise of Parker, CO, Donna of Sterling, CO, Rick and wife Ginny of Severence, CO, and Brian and wife Donna of Brush, CO; eleven grandchildren: Lem, Nate and wife Sarah, Adam, Kendall, John, Jordan and wife Abby, Jacob and wife Rita, Joseph, Kyle and wife Cesia, Derek and wife Erin, and Laura and husband Jorge; and eight great-grandchildren: Abby, Chloe, Calvin, Bradley, Timothy, Nora, Otto and Rio.
