Hines Padilla Hines J. "Junior" Padilla, 86, of Sterling, died Nov. 1, 2010, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Padilla was born Jan. 12, 1924, in Folsom, N.M., to Hines Padilla Sr. and Ann (Sanchez) Padilla. He was a lifetime resident of Sterling, attending Sterling schools.
He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for 47 years, retiring as section foreman.
He attended St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Mr. Padilla loved trains and Colorado history.
He is survived by his nephews and nieces, Charles E. Padilla Sr. and wife Judy of Denver, Delores Padilla of Sterling, Theresa Becker and husband William of Brighton, Edith Gray and husband Calvin of Denver; great-nieces, Debbie Hickey and husband Jerry, Kathy Gonzales, Felica Evans and husband Jonathan; great-nephews, Charles Padilla Jr. and wife Rene, Max Padilla, Jo-seph Gonzales, Jesse Gonzales and Steven Gonzales, all of Denver; best friend, Jim Geck of Ster-ling; and numerous great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
