Herman J. Schneider, 90, of Sterling passed away Friday, January 26 th , 2018. Vigil Service and Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 7 p.m., Thursday, February 1st at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday February, 2 nd at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Very Reverend Michael Bodzioch celebrating.
Herman was born on April 7, 1927 to Jacob and Katherine (Appelhans) Schneider, the 7 th of 15 children. He graduated from Iliff High School in 1945, and served in the Army as an MP in Germany. On March 27 th , 1951 he married Georgia (Powers) Schneider. Together they built a wonderful life to include nearly 67 years of marriage, 8 beloved children and countless beautiful memories.
After farming for many years, Herman started Reliable Plumbing & Heating in 1960 with two business partners, where he worked until retirement. He was a proud veteran, a member of the Iliff Lions Club, VFW, American Legion, St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Iliff & St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Sterling. Herman was a man of simple pleasures; proud but humble, hard-working and devout. He loved western novels, root beer floats, chili, animals, and polka music. Most of all, he loved the Lord and his family with a quiet but unquestionable depth.
Herman is survived by his devoted wife Georgia; sisters, Barbara Fish, Katherine Guenzi, Anna Bauman, Helen Morgan; brother, Larry Schneider; sons, Jake (Kathy) Schneider, George (Barb) Schneider and Greg Schneider; daughters, Deb (Bob) Hunt, Denise (Rodger) Robertson, Daneen Schneider and Dana (Kurt) Potter; son-in-law Mike Lawler; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; special friends, Shirley Ramey & Family, Rod & Bonnie Karg & Family, Mike & Laural Brownell & Family, & Connie Hollingsworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Katherine; brothers Ben, Paul, Jack, Joe, George (Duke) Schneider; sisters Pauline (Sis) Schneider, Josephine (Jo) Mari, Mary Janzck, and Virginia Greenfield; daughter Dianna Lawler; best friend Bruce Ramey.
