Herman William Neiman

Herman William Neiman, 83, of Sterling, died July 9, 2007, in Sterling. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Gary Weber officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Military rites will be given by American Legion Post No. 20.
Mr. Neiman was born Dec. 4, 1923, to Willis and Bertha (Clafin) Neiman in Curtis, Neb. He graduated from Allison High School. He entered the U.S. Army during World War II in November 1945, and was honorably discharged in November 1946. He was an MP in Company A with the 62nd Infantry Training Battalion. After his discharge he mined and farmed, living in Tiffany, Ouray and Grand Junction, before moving to Sterling on July 4, 1956.
He worked for the city of Sterling street department for 34 years as assistant and superintendent for the last nine years.
On Aug. 11, 1944, he married Rhoda M. Pennington in Aztec, N.M.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mr. Neiman is survived by his daughter, Loraine L. Walters of Sterling; sons, Harry Neiman of Ogallala, Neb., and Wayne Neiman of Merino; nine grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rhoda Neiman in 1998; daughter, Mabel Broyles in 1999; two brothers; and two sisters.
