Helen Louise (Hayward) Jensen, 86, of Alma, Neb., died Friday, June 12, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Neb., following complications from a broken collar bone. Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Chaney-Reager, with the Rev. LeeRoy Pickering officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Sterling.
Mrs. Jensen was born Aug. 24, 1922, in Okmulgee, Okla., the second child of Benoni and Florence (Meager) Hayward.
In 1939, she married Keith C. Fundenberger. They were married 25 years and had three children. She was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of children out of her home.
On June 14, 1966, she married Herman "Hank" C. Jensen in Sterling.
Helen was baptized in 1978 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Sterling. She loved the Lord and read her Bible faithfully.
In 1995, she moved to Alma.
She is survived by her husband, Herman "Hank" Jensen of 43 years; one daughter, Joan K. Wells and husband John; two sons, Floyd D. Fundenberger of Denver and Bill C. Fundenberger and wife Julie of Arvada; three stepsons, Dan Jensen of Denver, Michael D. Jensen of Aurora and Ned Jensen of Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
