Obituary

Harriett "Hattie" McClanahan, 94, of Sterling, died July 12, 2011, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 14, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Chaney-Reager, with the Rev. Dee Walker officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 16, 1916, in Hastings, Neb., to John and Marie E. (Lie) Sorch.

On Feb. 14, 1941, she married Raymond McClanahan in Sidney, Neb.

Mrs. McClanahan was a member of War Mothers, Stitch and Chatter Club and Pink Ladies.

She is survived by her sons, Marc McClanahan and wife Joyce of Rapid City, S.D., James McClanahan and wife Marlene of Sterling, David McClanahan of Longmont and Michael McClanahan of Sterling; brother, Jacob Sorch and wife Marietta of Dodge City, Kan.; sister, Esther Pabst and husband Sam of Greeley; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Mrs. McClanahan was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond McClanahan in 1997; son, Stephen McClanahan; one brother and eight sisters.

Memorials may be made to Devonshire Acres Nursing Home.
