Harold Eugene Young
1925 - 2008

Harold Eugene Young, 82, of Sterling, died May 9, 2008, in Sterling. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 16, at the Gary DeSoto Building at the Logan County Fairgrounds.
Mr. Young was born Sept. 6, 1925, to Lloyd A. and Nina (Gitchell) Young in Atwood. He attended Sterling schools.
He entered the U.S. Navy during World War II and was discharged January 1943.
Mr. Young started driving truck for Safeway in Sterling. He moved to Denver in 1953 and continued working for Safeway until his retirement, spending more than 30 years with the company.
He married Audrey Hitchcock; they had five children. They later divorced.
On April 27, 1970, he married Wanda V. Terry. She died in 1994.
Mr. Young moved to Sterling in 1999, where he resided until his death.
He is survived by his sons, Irwin Young and wife Jeanette of Salem, Ore., Lloyd Young and wife Julie of Keizer, Ore., and Dickson Young and wife Nora of Eugene, Ore.; daughters, Ruth Heinen of Keizer and Sharon McCool and husband Gary of Chehalis, Wash.; sisters, Dorene Lamb of Silverton, Ore., and Virginia Thomas of Yuba City, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Young; and sister, Ivalee Couch.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Chaney-Reager Funeral Home in Sterling handled the arrangements.
