Gregory "Greg" Calvin Scheel, 56, of Sterling passed away, Thursday, March 30 in Sterling, CO.
Visitation will be 1 pm to 4 pm, Wednesday, April 5, at Chaney-Reager Funeral home and 11 am to 4pm Thursday, April 6, at the Haxtun Berean Bible Church in Haxtun CO. A celebration of Greg's life will be 10:30 am, Friday, April, 7, 2017 at the Haxtun Berean Bible Church with Bryan Kroeger officiating. Interment to follow at the Haxtun Cemetery.

Greg was born in Haxtun, CO, March 8, 1961 to Carol (Brooks) and Kerm Scheel. Greg loved everyone with his whole heart, didn't know a stranger and wasn't afraid to pray with or for anyone anywhere. Greg lived his life to the fullest, and had more joy in his 56 years than most people could only hope to have in their lifetime. Greg loved music, Elvis Presley, Reese's cups, video games, hugs, Jesus, riding on lawn mowers, Bassett hounds, and Casa Bonita's – not necessarily in that order. Greg worked for various workshops for the developmentally disabled for the last 40 years. His life was a living example of the bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 – "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another just as God also forgave you in Christ."

Greg is survived by his mother Carol Scheel, sister and brother in-law Vera and Roger Hagemeier; sister Nancy Mentzel; niece Carisa and husband Cody Bamford; niece Kendra and husband Doug Holloway; nephews Randal Mentzel, Calvin Mentzel, Joe and wife Katie Mentzel; great nieces and nephews, Caysen, Carter, and Coy Bamford, Riar and Mason Holloway, Marly Jo and expected nephew, baby Mentzel; as well as numerous friends at Eastern Colorado Services for the Developmentally Disabled.

He was preceded in death by his father Kerm Scheel and grandparents Ivan and Florence Brooks and Emil and Alma Scheel.
