Grace Margaret (Manuello) Wiseman

Grace Margaret (Manuello) Wiseman, 84, a long-time resident of Hugo, Colo., passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at Aurora South Medical Center in Aurora, Colo. A Funeral Mass was held at 1:30 p.m. today, Sept. 28, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sterling, Colo. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hugo. Arrangements were handled by Chaney-Reager Funeral Home.

Gracie, as everyone knew her by, was born Oct. 14, 1922, to parents James and Mary (Bertorello) Manuello.

Gracie was united in marriage to John A. Haberkorn. They had two children, Robert and Carol Ann.

On March 16, 1968, she married Wayne M. Wiseman. In May 1985, they moved to Hugo, from a farm in the Rush, Colo., area to be near medical facilities.

Gracie loved the outdoors; so when she wasn't busy with housework, she was working with her flowers. She felt the need strongly to give of herself to others by volunteering with RSVP and talking to special friends every morning on the telephone. She loved visiting people in the nursing home and assisted living facilities.

Gracie never knew a stranger and always had a hug and smile for everyone she met. One of the happiest times of her life was when she was able to rejoin the Catholic Church in Hugo. She felt so content and knew it was the right decision.

Gracie went to work for Western Union in Denver, Colo., in 1948 and retired in 1977. She talked about how those were good years in her life.

Gracie is survived by her dear friends, Myra Schurman and Lee Kraxberger, Amy Solomon, Linda Simmons, Duane and Marie Mohan and family, and Gary and Jeanette Johnson; sister-in-law, Andrea Manuello; daughter, Carol Ann Tymchuck; grandchildren, Chad Anthony Oleson and Clint Oleson; nieces, Christina Marie Waltz, Corinne Grace Hendricks and Suzanne Manuello; many cousins in the Sterling and surrounding area; and a host of friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly in Hugo.

Gracie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary (Bertorello) Manuello; brother, Joseph "Joey" Manuello; three sisters, Irene Manuello, Jacquita "Creta" Manuello and Genevieve "Neva" Manuello; and one son, Robert James Haberkorn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hugo, Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Hugo, or Hugo Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Service in Hugo, in memory of Grace Wiseman.
