Gloria Geis went to be with her beloved Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 8, 2026. She lived a vibrant, creative life filled with her love for Jesus, music, theater, her children, and a deep passion for rescue dogs and the American Humane Society. An Elvis Presley themed celebration of life is planned for Friday, May 8, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the Worland Community Center, 1200 Culbertson, Worland, Wyoming.
Born on February 9, 1940, Gloria was the eldest daughter of Benjamin and Esther (Hoffman) Strauch. She spent her formative years in Windsor, Colorado, alongside her younger brother, Benjamin (“Benny”) before the family relocated to Worland, WY. Another brother, Jeff Strauch, was born into the family in 1958. She attended public school and began professional voice lessons that resulted her becoming a professional musician. She was active in theater and music in school and was the Harvest Ball Queen. Gloria graduated high school in 1958 and attended a secretarial school in Billings, Montana.
In 1960, she married Lyle Geis in Worland, and together they welcomed two daughters, Melanie Geis (Doug Cornelison) and Jodi Geis‑Crowder (Farrel Crowder). She was the office manager for Dr. Engelman’s medical office, an active member of Civic League, the Community Players, and the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, where her creative and fun approach to Bible verse memorization made her a favorite Catechism teacher. She supported her daughters to expand their vocabulary with a word of the day and to learn valuable life skills in 4-H. She shared her love of music by singing at many weddings and funerals in the Big Horn Basin.
Gloria moved to Helena, Montana, in 1980, where she was an office manager for Montana Petroleum, performed with Grand Street Theater, and participated in legislative activities at the Montana State Capitol. In 1991, she relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado, to be closer to family. There, she pursued her interest and passion for the medical field at Poudre Valley Hospital and operated a successful commercial cleaning business. Gloria retired in 2018 settling in Sterling, Colorado. A lifelong Elvis Presley fan, she fulfilled her dream of visiting Graceland in 2023.
Gloria’s love for animals—especially rescue dogs—was one of the defining joys of her life. Her cherished companions Mr. Favor, Tuscany, and Trudy brought her years of happiness. She also provided daytime pet‑care for Colorado State University veterinary students, forming meaningful connections with students and their pets.
Gloria enjoyed staying informed about current events. Her knowledge of computers and technology helped her remain up‑to‑date and engaged with the world around her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Benny, and her daughter Melanie.
Gloria is survived by her daughter Jodi, son-in-law Farrel, step-granddaughters Janita Kler (Jeff) and Tianna Crowder, granddaughters Katelin and Reesa Cornelison, great‑granddaughter Julianna Nay, and brother Jeff.
And though her voice has quieted, its echo remains—in the people she shaped, the animals she cherished, the music she carried, and the lives she touched.
