Glenn Arnold, 87, of Atwood, passed away April 27, 2011, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, May 2, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with the Rev. Vivian C. Hiestand. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Glenn was born July 14, 1923, in Sterling to Quinton Milo and Bernice (Hurst) Arnold. He attended school in Atwood, graduating from Atwood High School.
He was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years. He carried mail at Atwood, Sterling and Haxtun. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with campaigns in England and France, receiving awards for marksmanship.
On Oct. 16, 1955, he married Ionia Stewart. They celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Glenn won several trophies for pistol shooting and was a member of the Rural Carrier Association. He was an avid big game and bird hunter and fisherman. He loved all sports, boating, skiing and skating. He loved stamp and coin collection, metal and woodworking, including building two of his own homes.
He is survived by his wife, Ionia Stewart Arnold of Atwood; son, Dan Arnold and wife Debra of Douglas, Wyo.; granddaughter, Lisa Smith and husband Jeremy of Douglas, Wyo.; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Shauna Smith of Douglas; granddaughter, Kim Davis and husband Danny Joe of Colorado Springs; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew and Amber Davis of Colorado Springs; son, Ted Arnold and wife Janelle of Highlands Ranch; granddaughter, Michelle McAllister and husband Charn of Manhatten, Kan.; granddaughter, Katelin Arnold of Dublin, Calif.; and sister, Aileen Greenburg of Arvada.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Quinton Milo and Bernice Arnold.
