Georgia Bee (Siders) Hawkins, age 88, of Peetz, Colorado, passed away surrounded by her family at Sterling Regional MedCenter in Sterling, Colorado, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to funeral service time at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the Sidney LDS Church, 486 Toledo Street, in Sidney, Nebraska. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney. A reception will follow at the church hall.
Georgia was born June 11, 1938, in Sidney, Nebraska, the daughter of George and Lillian (Wilson) Siders. She attended school in Sidney and graduated in 1956. Georgia had a deep passion for playing the piano. On June 8, 1956, shortly after her high school graduation, she performed a graduation recital from the Advanced Grades in Piano and Theory. She memorably played her entire repertoire from memory, showcasing nine different composers, and was presented her diploma by Helen Spencer, her beloved teacher of ten years.
Georgia attended BYU in Provo, Utah, for one year before returning to Sidney to help care for her parents. She then began working as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell, where she was once awarded the title of "Most Courteous Telephone Operator."
On June 6, 1964, Georgia was united in marriage to Wayne Delbert Hawkins. Their marriage was solemnized on June 2, 1966, in the LDS Logan, Utah Temple. They made their home in Peetz, Colorado, where they shared 62 beautiful years of marriage. Seldom seen apart, they truly enjoyed being together, and their home was a place where love and laughter prevailed. In 2014, Wayne and Georgia were honored as the Grand Marshals of the Peetz Sake Days Homecoming Parade.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lillian Siders; her sisters, Ruth Kopetzky, Shirley Kopetzky, Lorita McNeill, and Wanita Lloyd; and her brother, George Siders.
Wayne and Georgia raised four children and held a tender love for them, their spouses, and their grandchildren. Georgia is survived by her husband, Wayne; her children, Bryan Hawkins, Ronda (Jim) Lenzen, Jill (Daniel) Beck, and Duane (Kelli) Hawkins; her grandchildren, Ella, Tessa, Ashley, and Sophie Beck, Jacob and Megan Hawkins; her sister, Cynthia (Siders) Michaels.
