George Louis Gertge, 84 of Sterling, CO passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at his home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery at a later date.

George was born October 26, 1932 at home in Proctor Colorado, the youngest child of ten to Adam & Frances (Appelhans) Gertge. He lived in Logan County all of his life from Proctor to Atwood, Iliff, Padroni, and then Sterling. He graduated from St. Anthony's school in 1950 and NJC in 1952. George and Susie Hoozee were married at St. Anthony's church in Sterling, CO on September 28, 1953. To this union 4 children were born.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Susie; children, Greg (Brenda) their sons Jonathan (Christie) and Eric (Jennissa); Kathy, her daughters Jessica (David) Roelle, Nicki (Toby) Reeves, and Dani; Kim (Mark) Appelhans, sons Kirk, Kyle (Alyson) and Sean; Gerry Gertge; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings: Jake, John, Phil, Adam, Mary Rhodes, Joseph, Catherine Monroe, Joseph, and Frances Isaacson as well as their spouses.
