Gary Lee Ray passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the age of 70 in Bridgeport, Nebraska. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 484 Deaver Dr., Sidney, NE. 69162 with gathering to follow. Gary was born on September 6, 1954, in Torrington, Wyoming, to William F. Ray and Erma M. (Miller) Ray. From a young age, Gary developed a strong work ethic while helping his father on the family farm, an experience that shaped his lifelong passion for agriculture and cattle.
After graduating from Lingle High School, Gary continued his education at the University of Wyoming, earning a bachelor's degree in animal science. His career took him through many paths, including managing Co-ops in Worland, WY, and Sterling, CO. He also worked at KPMX, John Deere, and for the Department of Corrections in Sterling. However, his true passion was always the land and livestock. For 21 years, he and his wife, Pam, worked tirelessly on their farm in Fleming, CO, perfecting the raising and taste of Ray Beef.
In 2012, Gary was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, a faith that became central to his life. He loved sharing his love for Jehovah with others and encouraging them to explore the Bible and its teachings. In his later years, he found great joy in preaching alongside his friends, never hesitating to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. To Gary, there was no such thing as a stranger—only friends he hadn't met yet.He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lori.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Pam; his children, Tasha (Aaron) Yonkers, Karrie Bivens, and Dwight (Ellie) Bivens; and his cherished grandchildren, Aurora, Kaiden, Sophia, Baylonna, Brendin, and Emma. He also leaves behind his sister, Linda (Jerry) Keeran; brothers, Larry Ray and Dennis Ray; and many nieces and nephews.
Gary's legacy of faith, hard work, and love for his family and friends will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
