Gary Castle, 83, Sterling CO, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022, in Greeley, Colorado. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, in Chappell, Nebraska at the Chappell cemetery with Reverend Selby Batty officiating.
Gary was born January 26,1939 to Lowell and Brynese Castle at the local hospital in Chappell, Nebraska.

Gary earned his master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado. His devotion to farming drew him to rural Atwood to pursue a dream to farm. Gary was an exceptional steward of the land. He and his wife of 65 years, Glenda (Hixon) Castle devoted their lives to their community and the land.  As a botany professor he melded a devotion to agriculture and teaching. Gary tirelessly helped his neighbors.  He built ramps and cleared snow from their driveways.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lowell and Brynese McFee Castle.

Gary is survived by his wife Glenda; three children, Leigh (Mark Tracy); Gary (Charla Matthews); and Gina (Dan Robbins); eight grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren; his sister Linda Smith (Gary Smith) and brothers Jim and Larry (Joyce Hunter).
