Obituary

Frederick "Fred" Brunner Jr., 85, of Sterling, died Oct. 3, 2010, in Greeley. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James R. Nash officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with military rites.

Mr. Brunner was born Feb. 14, 1925, in Sheboygan, Wis., to Frederick and Lea (Dross) Brunner. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1943.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He graduated from NJC in 1951.

On March 1, 1947, he married Virginia Roth in St. Francis, Frederick Fred Brunner Jr. Kan.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 82 years.

Mr. Brunner worked in the oil field business for 38 years, many years as the owner and operator of Fred Brunner Construction Co. He was a rig operator and roustabout. He spent 15 and a half years at Logan County Lumber before retiring.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Brunner of Sterling; son, David Brunner and wife Barbara of Brush; daughter, Renee Geerdes and husband James Jr. of Castle Rock; brother, Melvin Brunner and wife Betty of Sterling; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Gaddis and husband Jim and Bernice Jackson and husband Lester; brother, Jim Brunner; granddaughter, Eliza Grace Winters.
