Frank David Breidenbach, 84, of Sterling, Colorado passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at his home. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 7:00 pm Wednesday, October 10 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home in Sterling, Colorado with Recitation of the Holy Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 pm, Thursday, October 11 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Sterling. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Frank was born on January 31, 1934 to Irene (Deranleau) and Stephen A. Breidenbach in Iliff, Colorado. Frank attended school in Iliff and graduated from Iliff High School in 1952.
Frank enlisted in the Navy following his graduation in 1952 and served on the U.S.S Hornet during the end of the Korean War until 1956. Frank then returned home to the family farm. He was called back to the Navy Reserves from 1965-1967 during the Vietnam War and served on the U.S.S. Constellation. In 1967 he returned home to the family farm where he continued to farm and run his trucking business until his retirement.
On August 20th, 1972, Frank married Geraldine (Jerry) Gerdes Harms in Sterling, Colorado, where they enjoyed running their trucking and farming business. They enjoyed their many travels throughout the U.S., Mexico, Jamaica, Italy, Austria, Germany, Thailand, and later, their winter home in Phoenix. They enjoyed their family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids and attending their activities. They were married until Jerry's death on June 14th, 2008.
Frank enjoyed all sporting events, whether it be the Denver Broncos, Rockies or being great support for his grandkids and great grandkids in all their sporting events. Frank also enjoyed playing cards with his Elks buddies and gambling in Las Vegas.
Frank is survived by daughter, Susan (Bill) Marostica of Iliff; sons, Steve Harms of Iliff and Scott (Tammy) Harms of Crook; 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; sister, Agatha Breidenbach of Iliff; sister-in-law, Pearly Breidenbach of Iliff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Jerry, Granddaughter, Shannon Marostica. Brothers, Steve and Ed Breidenbach, sisters, Rosemary May, Leona Smith, Annabelle Harding, and Frances Kulbe.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Caliche Foundation C/O Frank Breidenbach Memorial, 26308 Buffalo Blvd, Iliff, CO 80736.
