Florence Muhar passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2014 in Sterling. Visitation will be on Tues., Sept 16, from 10am until 6 pm at Chaney-Reager Funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Wed., Sept 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sterling at 10:30am. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Florence was born November 28, 1926 in Carlton, NE to Henry and Frieda Lueders Elting.
She graduated from Deshler High School in Deshler, NE. She married John Mette on June 10, 1948. The couple moved to Colorado in the 1950's.
After John's death in 1980, Florence married Louis Muhar of Sterling, CO in the spring of 1985.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was involved in both the Sunday school and vacation bible school programs. She also participated in the church's Ruth Guild, LWML and quilting club. Florence was also a dedicated homemaker and belonged to the South Siders Extension Club for many years.
She is survived by her son, Tom Mette of Sterling; daughters, Kristy Melodia and husband Brian of Denver CO, Penny Hill and husband Bob of Prescott Valley, AZ, and Pam Lynemeyer and husband Dennis of Leadville, CO; sister-in-law Ruth Johnson of Duluth, MN; 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Florence was preceded in death by husbands, John Mette and Louis Muhar; sisters, Edna and Leona; brothers, Vernon,Glenn and Orville.
