Obituary

Florence June Annan, age 92, formerly of Sterling, CO, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025, in Windsor, CO. Those wishing to honor Florence's legacy, a viewing will be from 4-6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 11, at Halouska Family Chaney-Reager Funeral Home A celebration of life service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 12, at First Presbyterian Church 130 S. 4th Street Sterling, CO with Reverend Michelle Witherspoon officiating. Florence will be laid to rest at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 13, at Sunset Memorial Gardens 3400 West 28th Street in Greeley, CO with Pastor Kelly Huenink officiating.

Florence was born June 8, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Conrad and Leta Hoff. She was raised on an irrigated farm near Greeley. She attended Gill school through the tenth grade. She graduated from college high school in Greeley in 1951. She served as student body secretary in her senior year.

Upon graduating from high school, she worked at the First National Bank in Greeley and Ft. Collins, CO. Florence married her husband, Jack on September 19, 1954, at the First Presbyterian Church in La Salle, CO. They lived in New Raymer, CO from 1957-1962 and Grover, CO from 1962 to 1965, where Jack taught Vocational Agriculture and was FFA Advisor.

In 1965-66, Florence and Jack and their son Bill and daughter Sherry resided in Ft. Collins, CO, where Jack was on a teaching assistantship at Colorado State University where he earned the master's degree in early education. In 1966, the family moved to Sterling, CO where Jack became a member of the Northeastern Junior College Agriculture Department faculty.

Florence was very active in the community. She was a member of the NJC faculty wives' organization, a 4-H club leader for 20 years for the Shamrock's 4-H Club, and she delivered meals on wheels for 20 years in the Sterling area. She enjoyed being a volunteer at the Sterling Regional MedCenter gift shop and the Cancer Center. In 2020, she received a pin of volunteering 3,000 hours.

She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 50 years and held all the offices several times. For many years, she worked part time at the Northeastern Junior College bookstore. She was a member of the Home Hustlers Extension Club for over 50 years and held offices several times. She and her husband Jack were the Logan County Fair and Parade Marshals. Florence was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon and was chairman of the friendship circle, chairman of the Bible study group, and chairman of the bazaar for five years. She enjoyed making many crafts. Her first love was playing in the church bell choir for many years. She made many cross-stitch items for many of the family members.

She and her husband Jack were inseparable and did most everything together. They attended all of their children's activities and the grandchildren 4-H and school activities. They enjoyed traveling and over the years visited every state in the United States. They also traveled to England, Scotland, Wales, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, and Mexico.

Florence was a dedicated sports fan. She attended nearly all the Northeastern Junior College volleyball and basketball games and other athletic events. The family had Denver Bronco season tickets since 1977. She loved working in the yard and especially caring for her many flowers. Each year she added more to provide additional color. Florence loved planning and hosting family dinners and activities, and her favorite time was to be with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jack, parents, sister Lillian, brothers Harry and Herman and daughter-in-law Stacia.

Florence is survived by her son Bill and companion Patti Lewis of Brush, CO; daughter Sherry Talbott and husband Rodd of Windsor, CO; grandchildren Travis (Shelly) Annameier, Ryan (Hailey) Annan, Robb Talbott and Megan (Christian) Bos; step grandchildren Callie Marin, Dave Marin and Ryan (Cindy) Clark; 10 great grandchildren Henry Bos, Andrew Bos, Charlie Bos, Oliver Talbott, Lucy Talbott, Jackson Annan, Riley Annan, Bo Annan, Marley Annameier and Mika Annameier and step great-grandson Brayden Clark.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jack and Florence Annan Leadership Scholarship Fund at Northeastern Junior College, c/o NJC Foundation, 100 College Ave., Sterling, CO 80751.
