Obituary
Ferne Joyce Sandstead, 90, of Sterling, passed away March 1, 2013, in Sterling. Private family services were held.
Ferne was born Nov. 1, 1922, in Sidney, Neb., to Hirman and Annette Carrie (Jensen) Holmes. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1940.
Ferne worked at Brush Livestock Exchange, retiring in 1998 after 25 years.
On March 1, 1948, she married John Sandstead in Fort Collins.
Ferne was a member of the Methodist faith and loved golfing.
She is survived by her sisters, Muriel Farber of Sterling and Irene Seifried of Farmington, N.M.; brother, Dick Holmes of Brush; granddaughter, Ashley Moore and husband Aaron of La Porte; great-grandson, Aidan Moore of La Porte; nieces, nephews and other family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Sandstead; son, Michael Sandstead; brothers, Bill Holmes, Roy Holmes, Bob Holmes; and sisters, Mildred Curtis and Jean Bryce.
Chaney-Reager Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
