Evelyn Elaine Uber, 89 of Sterling passed away Monday, August 20, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 23 at the Prairie Home Baptist Church in Haxtun with Pastor Frank Tamasy officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Haxtun Cemetery.

Evelyn was born January 1, 1929 in Hay Springs, Nebraska to Arthur Henry and Ethel Mae (Nicholson) Schildhauer. She married Edward Martin Fiene and to this union they had two children, Betty Ann and Harold Ray. Evelyn worked many years at the family restaurant as a cook. After getting married, she went to work at the family ranch for a number of years. The couple later divorced and she decided to attend culinary school. She became a chef and worked in Estes Park at the local restaurants. Evelyn married Kenneth Uber and the couple made their home in Estes Park. She later moved to Haxtun and then to Sterling in 2012. She was a longtime PEO member and a member of the Prairie Home Baptist Church in Haxtun.

Evelyn is survived by her sister, Lois Emmett and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband Edward Fiene; husband Kenneth Uber; children, Betty Ann Fiene and Harold Ray Fiene; siblings, Ila Birrell, Arlene Blakesly, Dwayne Schildhauer, Joanne Cowan, Keith Schildhauer and Curtis Schildhauer.
