Obituary

Eugene B. (Gene) Bauer, 87 of Sterling, CO passed away on Sunday, October 17 th , 2021 in Greeley, CO.

Services for Gene will be held in Sterling, CO on Saturday, November 20 th at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.  130 S. 4 th St. in Sterling.  A graveside service will be held in Clay Center, Kansas at Greenwood Cemetery on Monday, November 22 nd at 10:00 a.m.

Gene was born October 26 th , 1933 in Green, KS to Gerald and Irene (Lippert) Bauer.  He was raised in the Green and Clay Center communities and graduated with the class of 1951 from Clay Center Community High School.  Gene served his country in the U.S. Army after high school.  On May 16 th , 1961 he married Anna Mae Lyon in Clay Center, KS.  Gene was a farmer and rancher in the Clay Center community for over 30 years before relocating to Sterling, CO to become a crop adjuster, a position he loved and held for 30 years.

Gene was a member of the Masonic Lodge, First Presbyterian Church of Sterling, CO and a member of the Elks Lodge for over 60 years.  In the Elks, he served in all chairs of the Clay Center Lodge and was a Past State President for the state of Kansas.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anna Mae, brothers Jerry Bauer, Jon Bauer and Robert Bauer.

Survivors include his daughters, Amy and husband Scott Gepner of Wichita, KS, Meg and husband Brian Adams of Abilene, KS.  Grandchildren, Taylor Adams and fiance' Justin Trotter of Manhattan, KS Jonathan Gepner, of Wichita, KS, Paige Womochil and husband Kyle of Abilene, KS, Adam Gepner of Wichita, KS, and his great grand-daughter, Brixlee Mae Womochil.  Gene is also survived by sisters-in-law, Marie Bauer of Houston, TX, Barbara Wagster of Denver, CO, Elaine Lyon of Salina KS and Jean Lyon of Manhattan, KS and cherished friends who became extended family, Wayne and Barbara Ogley, Mike Robinett and Donna Swan, all of Sterling, CO.

The family suggests memorials be given to either The First Presbyterian Church, 130 S. 4 th , Sterling, CO 80751, or the Kansas Elks Training Center for the Handicapped, 1006 E. Waterman St. Wichita, KS 67211, please indicate the Gene Bauer Memorial.
