Obituary
Esther Mary Vecchia, 90 of Sterling, passed away Tues., April 28, 2015 in Sterling. Visitation will be 10am until 4pm, Thurs., April 30 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Vigil service and recitation of the rosary will be at 7pm, Thurs. at Chaney-Reager. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30am Fri., May 1, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Esther was born April 21, 1925 in Padroni, CO to Frank and Catherine Lazzaretti DalPonte. She graduated from Sterling High School. Esther married Aldo V. Vecchia Aug. 31, 1942 in Sidney, NE. Aldo and Esther were known for growing sweet corn and cantaloupe for sale in the Sterling area.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Esther is survived by daughter Verli Stanley and husband Ron of Sterling; sons Dominic Vecchia of Sterling and Aldo Vecchia, Jr. and wife Shelly of Bismarck, ND; sister Louise Kloberdanz of Sterling; grandchildren Missy Shelley, Ryan Stanley, Chela Linville, Crystal Stanley, Alexandra Vecchia, Emily Vecchia, Anthony Vecchia; great grandchildren Aunisty Linville, Steven Linville and Estrea Linville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Aldo Vecchia in 1999; brother Don DalPonte; sisters Theresa Steinback, Mary Mildenberger and Mildred Ann Leino.
