Esther "Elaine" (Wiebers) Reed, 71, of Sterling, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at the Fort Morgan hospital. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with Eric Wilson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
She was born Jan. 1, 1940, in Sterling. She grew up in the Rockland community and graduated from Fleming High School.
She married Bill Reed after high school and worked as a waitress, CNA, bus driver and cashier for many years.
Among her hobbies and interests were craftwork and crocheting.
Mrs. Reed is survived by her daughter, Leona Lawein of Raytown, Mo.; three grandchildren, Nicole Gibson of Lakewood, Mac Schriner and wife Crysta of Laverne, Okla., and Betsey Schriner of Boomfield, Neb.; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Icel Choplin of Independence, Mo., Helen Wilson of Yuma, Rose Sloan of Commerce City, Betty Parsons of Greeley; brothers, Don Wiebers of Owanka, S.D., Gale Wiebers of Holyoke and Jim Wiebers of Otis; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Cecil Wiebers; brothers, Fred Wiebers, Dale Wiebers and Leo Wiebers; and sister, Donna Franks.
