Ernestine 'Ernie' Heimbegner
May 10, 1917 - April 4, 2007

Ernestine "Ernie" Heimbegner, 89, of Sterling, died April 4, 2007, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 8, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, at Chaney-Reager with the Rev. Dan Holsten officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Heimbegner was born May 10, 1917, in Scottsbluff, Neb., to Henry and Amelia (Sinner) Stark. She was one of 10 children.

On April 6, 1939, she married John Heimbegner Jr. in Greeley. She worked for several years in a local nursing home.

She attended the Berean Church in Sterling with many faithful friends. She was a faithful farmwife, loved gardening and was an excellent German cook. The greatest joy of her life was sharing time with her family. She loved traveling to visit siblings and cooking holiday and special meals for her children's and grandchildren's families.

Mrs. Heimbegner is survived by her sons, Kenneth Heimbegner and wife Rita of Sterling, and Robert Heimbegner of Fort Collins; daughter, Barbara Gentry and husband Bruce of Merino; several sisters-in-law; five grandchildren, four with spouses; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, on April 11, 1999; brothers, Henry, Rienholt, Manuel and Harold Stark; sisters, Lydia Weber, Mary Hirsh, Helen Siefker, Frieda Wagner and Geraldine Dumas.
