MSGT Elmer Dermer, 93 of Atwood and Sterling Colorado entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 7, 2020, from Covid-19. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 17 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at noon, Friday, December 18 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Rev. James R. Nash as officiant. Burial with military honors will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Elmer served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1945-1946 and then joined the U.S. Air-Force from 1951-1971. He retired from Colorado Highway Department. Elmer lived a full life with loving family and friends.
Elmer is survived by his two children, Jennifer Dermer Davis and Brenda Karbach; two surviving children of deceased wife, Mary Dermer; Oran Canada and Pete Streety; his sisters Edna Schmidt and Shirley Dodd and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Elmer Dermer, 93 of Sterling died Monday, December 7, 2020 at Sterling Regional MedCenter. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m., to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, December 17 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, December 18, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Reverend James R. Nash officiating. Elmer will be laid to rest with military honors at Riverside Cemetery.
Elmer was born October 9, 1927 to John and Margaret (Winkler) Dermer in Atwood, Colorado. Elmer attended school in Atwood and graduated from Sterling High School. He attended college at NJC for one year. He farmed for a while with his Dad until he went into the Navy Seabees in 1945 and then into the Air Force in 1951. Elmer retired as a Master Sergeant in 1971 and then pursued his career working for Colorado Highway Dept. While in the Air Force he met his wife Mary and they were married February 6, 1966 at Randolph Air Force base at the chapel in San Antonio, Texas. The couple later moved to Sterling.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of Jake Uhrig V.F.W post 3541 and a lifetime member of Sterling Elks Lodge #1336. He enjoyed going to the German Dutch Hop dances and just spending time with family and friends at home. He also enjoyed working in the garden and his yard and playing cribbage with his special friend Eddie.
Elmer is survived by his daughters Brenda and husband (Taylor) Karbach, Jennifer Davis; sons Oran Canada Sr., Robbie G. Streety and wife Rose Malon and and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
