Obituary

Elaine R. Dermer Amen, 67, of Sterling, passed away Sept. 6, 2012, in Sterling. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Zion Congregational Church, with the Rev. Chuck Vorderberg officiating. Services will conclude at the church.

Elaine was born April 5, 1945, in Sterling to Edward and Mildred (Werner) Dermer. She graduated from Merino High School in 1963, continuing her education at NJC.

On April 16, 1966, she married Jerry Amen in Sterling. They were married for 46 years.

Elaine was a farm wife for 30 years, also working at Logan County Hospital, Sterling Credit Union, Cattleya Floral and the Flour Bin, and was a paraprofessional at Sterling Middle School. She was also the bookkeeper at Zion Congregational Church.

She was a member of United Church of Crook for 30 years and Zion Congregational Church for nine years.

She enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking, cooking and especially her grandchildren.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Jerry Amen of Sterling; sons, Michael Amen of Parker and Paul Amen and wife Pam and granddaughters, Cassidy, Casie and Codie, of Sterling; brothers, Warren Dermer and wife Janice and Bryan Dermer and wife Janell, all of Sterling; sister, Sharon Reitz and husband Larry of Lenapah, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mildred Dermer.

Memorials may be made to Zion Congregational Church.
