Effie Clara St. John, 93 of Sterling, passed away Wed., March 25, 2015 in Sterling. Memorial service will be Sat., April 11, 2015 at 4:00 pm at Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 230 Lincoln St. in Sterling
Effie was born Jan. 21, 1922 in Arvada, CO to Charles Floyd and Milissa Dowrick Brackett. She married Wesley St. John in 1951.
Her grandparents came to Colorado during the gold rush and mined in the Clear Creek area, then moved to Yuma to farm, but during the depression, the dust storms wiped them out.
Effie worked for thirty years at the Jolly Rancher Candy factory. She moved to Sterling and was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and an honorary lifetime member of Golden S.D.A. Church. She enjoyed photography, especially of flowers and mountain landscapes and enjoyed camping.
Effie is survived by sons Sandy St. John and wife Bonnie and Jerry St. John and wife Cathy all of Sterling; grandchildren Kate Everhart of Windsor, CO, Elisa Parker and husband Tyson of Loveland, CO, Jared St. John and wife Michelle of Golden, CO, Miriah St. John of Pueblo, CO, Jerry L. St. John of Sterling, CO and Tammy Kuhn and husband Gary of Thornton, CO; great grandchildren Ethan Everhart, Calvin St. John, Natalie Parker, Allison Kuhn, Logan Kuhn, Nathaniel Kuhn and Sage St. John.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ellsworth Bowman and Edwin Brackett and sisters Ruby Fish and Martha Bowman.
