Edward Lloyd Foos Sr., 85, of Sterling, passed away Aug. 9, 2013, in Sterling. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Peace Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Wendy Kalan officiating. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Edward was born May 3, 1928, in Minatare, Neb., to Henry and Emma (Reitz) Foos. He moved to Colorado in 1943.
Ed worked for H&B Construction for nine years and Sterling Colorado Beef and Excel Beef for 27 years. He was a skilled mechanic and proficient in many trades.
On March 1, 1956, he married the love of his life, Marlene Cummings, in Sterling. They were married for 57 years. Their marriage produced four sons, Ed Jr., Larry, Jim and Steve. He was very proud of his boys.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336.
Ed loved to tease and play tricks on his friends. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Foos of Sterling; sons, Ed Foos Jr. and wife Barb of Sterling, Larry Foos and wife Carrie of Missouri City, Texas, Steve Foos and wife Carrie of Fort Collins; brother, Kenneth Foos and wife Alice of Atwood; sister-in-law, Harriet Foos of Sterling; grandchildren, Daniel, Megan Foos States and husband Brett, Brandy Foos Greenwood and husband Charlie, Kaily, Ryan, Ashley, Brittney, Kevin, Abigail and Rebekah; four great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Ayden, Kaydence and Rhylee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jim Foos; brothers, Victor and Albert Foos; and sister, Betty Mitchell.
