Obituary

Edward Albrandt, 88, of Sterling, died Oct. 6, 2012, at Devonshire Acres in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Zion Congregational Church, with the Rev. Chuck Vorderberg officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Albrandt was born to Henry and Ernestine (Scharf) Albrandt on Oct. 13, 1923, in Sterling. He graduated from Atwood High School in 1941.

On Dec. 26, 1975, he married Edna Hounshell. Edna passed away on July 3, 2011.

Mr. Albrandt helped farm with his father until January of 1948. He went to work for H.A. Marr Grocery until November of 1948. Ed was inducted into the U.S. Army at Fort Ord, Calif., on Nov. 28, 1948. He was discharged in December of 1949. He was recalled to active service in September of 1950. He was deployed to Korea in October of 1950, serving there until 1951. He was honorably discharged in August of 1951. While in Korea he served with the 8th Field Artillery Battalion C Battery 25th Division. He went to work for McCoy Caterpillar on Aug. 23, 1951, and retired on Sept. 28, 1986.

Mr. Albrandt was a member of the BPOE of Sterling, VFW and Zion congregation. He enjoyed his family and friends, working on cars, gardening and listening to music. He also enjoyed reminiscing about his childhood in Atwood.

Mr. Albrandt is survived by his stepson, Jim Hounshell and wife Alison of Cheyenne, Wyo.; step-daughter, Jolene Maul of Sterling; step-grandchildren, Kristin Maul and Ryan Maul of Sterling, Travis Hounshell of Scottsbluff, Neb.; brothers, Don Albrandt and wife Dorothy of Sterling, Ray Albrandt of Wheatland, Wyo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ernestine Albrandt; brothers, Herman Albrandt, Harold Albrandt, Gene Albrandt and Hubert Albrandt.
