Edith Marie Dack, 82, of Sterling, died Feb. 6, 2010, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, followed by Vigil service and Recitation of the Rosary at 7. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert Wedow officiating. Inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Edith was born June 9, 1927, in Dupont to Walter M. and Rose E (Caveny) Clark. Her talents began as a teenager, sewing for her younger siblings, milking cows, pouring cement and moving houses.
On Oct. 6, 1946, she married Virgil Dack. During 55 years of marriage, they built their home, rasied four children, were active in 4-H, DAV, VFW, American Legion and farmed the Dack homestead.
Her entertainment was sewing, card games, Bingo, dancing and dog races. Her friends were many and lifelong.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Stoneham and St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sterling.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Schmidt of Canon City; sons, Terry Dack of Greeley, Timothy Dack of New Raymer; sisters, Lauretta Ahrens of Blue Earth, Minn., Elaine Spaeth of Peetz, Audrey Pierce of Fallon, Nev.; brother, Don Clark of Stoneham; grandchildren, Kiersten Sombke of Conde, S.D., Todd and Troy Dack of Greeley; and great-grandchildren, Alea and Genevive Neuhardt of Conde.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil Dack in 2000; daughter, Janice Neuhardt; grandson, Destri Neuhardt; brothers, Walter "Bub" Clark, Duane "Jack" Clark, Paul Clark; and sister, Shirley Gerk.
