Earl D. "Don" Hall, 88, of Sterling, died Jan. 5, 2012 in Sterling. Private family service will be held at a later date.
Don was born July 2, 1923, in Peetz to Earl T. and Cassanna (Goodyear) Hall. He was raised in Sterling after the age of 4 and attended Sterling schools, graduating from Logan County High School in 1942. He joined the U.S. Navy in December that year.
On Sept. 5, 1945, he married Helen J. Florom in San Diego, Calif. They returned to Sterling after Don's discharge in 1946, where Don farmed and ranched until his retirement in 1980.
Don was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3541 and American Legion Post 20.
He is survived by his daughters, Ginny Fortune of Greeley, Katie Brittain and husband Larry of Sterling, Patricia Mills and husband David of Platteville, Linda Hall and John Lonsdale of Fort Collins; son, Michael Hall and wife Lori of Loveland; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen in 1982; his parents; sisters, Marjorie Hideman, Jude Whitcomb and Jean Peters; and brothers, Gordon and Bob.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Plains.
Chaney-Reager Funeral Home in Sterling handled the arrangements.
