E.E. "Barney" Watson

E.E. "Barney" Watson, 79, of Sterling, died April 29, 2008, in Sterling. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today, May 1, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Chaney-Reager, with the Rev. Mike Kirschbaum officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, with military rites performed by American Legion Post No. 20.
Mr. Watson was born Nov. 12, 1928, to John and Lydia (Pridemore) Watson in Harveyville, Kan. He was raised and attended school in Burlinggame, Kan.
He entered the U.S. Navy in November 1945, and was discharged in October 1947, during World War II. In January 1949, he entered the U.S. Coast Guard, being discharged March 1950. In September 1950, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. He served during the Korean War and was discharged August 1954.
On April 17, 1968, he married Helen Sharp in Rapid City, S.D.
Mr. Watson moved to Brush in the 1960s. He lived there until moving to Peetz in 1973. In 1988, he moved to Sterling, where he has resided since.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Watson of Sterling; daughters, Ramona Bethune and husband Steve of Merino and Debi Crow and friend Terry Woods of Glenville, Ga.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; three sisters; and daughter, Twila.
