John Douglas Cunningham passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Sterling Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Doug's family will receive friends for a time of fellowship and refreshments on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home in Sterling. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

Doug was born March 25, 1965 to Robert and Charlotte (Frank) Cunningham in Sterling, CO. He attended Lone Star and Otis Elementary Schools and graduated from Sterling High School in 1983.  Much of his working life was spent driving trucks for companies in the Sterling area, most recently with the Logan County Road and Bridge department.  Doug was a very skilled driver and could be counted on to deliver his load safely and on-time.  After work, Doug enjoyed playing the guitar, gardening, working around the yard and took great pride in his home's appearance.  His quick wit and sense of humor always resulted in plenty of laughing and joking at family gatherings and while spending time with friends.  His ability to make those around him laugh, even in hard times, will be missed perhaps most of all.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert; grandfather, Ralph Frank; grandparents, J.O. and Anna Mae Cunningham; and step-grandfather, Carl Collins.

Doug is survived by his mother, Charlotte; grandmother, Berneice Collins; brother, Scott (Sandy) Cunningham; sister, Tammy Cunningham; nephews, Jacob (Amy) Cunningham, and Brian Cunningham; niece, Ashley (Jeremy) Peden; great nephews, Trevor Cunningham, Drew Cunningham and Zachary Peden; and many extended family members and friends.
