Dorothy Ann Strachan, 101 of Loveland, CO passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday June 10, at Grandview Cemetery, 1900 W. Mountain Ave. Ft. Collins, CO. A reception to follow at Ft. Collins City Park at the gazebo.

Dorothy Ann was born May 16, 1923, in Ft. Collins, CO to Estella Elizabeth McDougall and John Smith Strachan. She lived on a farm south of Ft. Collins until moving to Akron, CO in 1995. She attended Fossil Creek School, Fort Collins High School and graduated from Colorado State University in 1945, with a Bachelor of Music degree. She also studied at the University of Northern Colorado and Denver University. She taught in the public schools of Englewood, Colorado and in the Poudre R-1 school district until her retirement.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.  She was a member of St. Andrew Scottish Society of Colorado, Delta Omicron National Music Sorority, Humane Society for Larimer County, 4-H Clubs, and orchestras.

Her interests included homemaking, classical and folk music, farming, dogs, sheep, volunteering, baseball, Scottish country dance, libraries, reading history books, and photographing Colorado's mountains and plains.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Kenneth Gordon (Betty), Edwin Duane (Lynn) and John Louis (Vada) Strachan and nephew Duane Scott Strachan.

Dorothy is survived by four nephews, two nieces, several cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Dorothy asked that people pray for the following: the church, educators and students, farmers, persons who experience migraine headaches, dementia, cancer, and strokes, and St. Francis Homes for Children.
