Dorothy June Honebein

Dorothy June Honebein, 75, of Greeley and formerly of Sterling, died March 8, 2008, Greeley. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday, March 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3000 35th Ave., Greeley. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. William H. Keller officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.
Dorothy was born June 16, 1932, to John and Hilda (Koehler) Pabst in Brush. She attended Roosevelt High School in Merino, where she played on the undefeated girls basketball team, the Roosevelt Roughrides. She was valedictorian of her class, graduating May 11, 1950.
After graduating, Dorothy attended secretary school in Denver. She worked at the Logan County Assessors Office and the ASCS Office as an administrative assistant.
On July 8, 1951, she married Melvin J. Honebein at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Vallejo, Calif. Mel passed away April 24, 1988.
Dorothy moved to Greeley in 1991. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Greeley.
Her hobbies included sewing, crafts and square dancing.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, LuAnn Delaine Wiederspan and husband Curt of Eaton, and Janet Kay Moad of Fort Collins; son, Richard Allen Honebein of Nampa, Idaho; brother, Don Pabst and wife JoAnn of Vacaville, Calif.; sisters, Joyce Green and husband Gene of Fairfield, Calif., Peggy Seitzler and husband Tom of Gilroy, Calif., and Donna Broder and husband Charlie of St. Helena, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hilda Pabst.
