Dorothy Mae Edwards, 88, of Sterling died June 5, 2016 of complications from cancer. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church with the Reverend Wendy Kalan officiating. Service will conclude at the church.

Dorothy was born February 15, 1928 to Jacob and Katherine Dietz Weinbender. She graduated from Atwood High School and while working at the Sterling Journal Advocate met John F. Edwards. They were married on April 15, 1950. In addition to raising her children, she worked in her husband's law office until his death in 1969. She went to work at the Logan County Department of Social Services, where she worked as a Legal Technician in the Child Support Unit for 23 years.

Dorothy's life was centered around her family, her faith, and her community. Her grandchildren held a special place in her life and her heart. She was a proud member of Peace Lutheran Church where, in her younger days she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Dorothy's cooking skills were legendary, and in later years she could always be counted on to prepare something homemade for church functions; often from her bountiful garden.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters Ruth Edwards Johnson and husband Dave, Sue Edwards Pointer and husband Kent; son John Edwards and wife Donna; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John F. Edwards; daughter Kathy Edwards; grandson Andrew Pointer; brothers Fredrick, George, and Henry, and sisters Eleanor and Helen.

Dorothy was the heart and soul of her family. She will be remembered as a faithful servant of God and a loving wife, daughter, mother, and grandmother. For her faith, unselfish love, dedication to family, church and community, we give thanks to God and return her to His care.
