Donald Dean Thompson

Donald Dean Thompson, 82, of Sterling, Colorado passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 26, 2026. Cremation has taken place, and no services will be held.

Donald was born on September 30, 1943, in Sterling, CO to Joseph Franklin Thompson and Helen C. Wessel. He married Blanche County November 6, 1963, in Sterling, CO. Don worked as a janitor and maintenance for various schools and a residence advisor at McGregor Hall for many years.

Donald will be remembered for his creativity, his helpful spirit, and the care he put into the things he made. He especially enjoyed his time as the RA at McGregor Hall, a role he took great pride in. He also enjoyed making jewelry, woodworking, and creating Christmas decorations, sharing his talents through handmade pieces that reflected his patience, skill, and love for crafting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Thompson and Joseph Thompson; brothers, Joe and Glenn Thompson; sister, Sharon Thompson; daughter, Sarah Powell; brothers-in-law, Victor County, Jack County, William County and Richard Gerbitz; niece Amy Thompson and nephews Yancy Thompson and Lance Thompson.

Donald is survived by his wife Blanche Thompson; sisters Jean Milligan from Sterling, CO and Pamela Milheim of Evans, CO; sister-in-law Rhonda Thompson of Sterling, CO; four sons, Mike Thompson of Sterling, CO, Rick (Norma) Thompson of Eckley, CO, Charles (Becky) Thompson of Greeley, CO and Terry (Jenifer) Thompson of Sterling, CO; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and one great-great grandchildren.
