Obituary

Donald Henry Manhalter Sr., 74, of Sterling, passed away Jan. 17, 2014, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, and from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James R. Nash officiating. Interment with military rites will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Donald was born Aug. 25, 1939, in Akron to Guy and Emma (Kahler) Manhalter. He graduated from high school and continued his education for another two years, earning his Associate's degree. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 until 1968.

He was a mail carrier for 15 years retiring in 2006.

On Nov. 25, 1967, he married Delores Helvie in Akron. They moved to Sterling from Akron in 1967.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Post No. 20, the BPO?Elks Lodge in Akron and a bowling league.

Donald is survived by his daughters, Nancy L. Manhalter and Chad Fogelman of Clovis, N.M., JoAnna E. Trevino and husband Ramiro of Sterling; son, Donald H. Manhalter Jr. and wife Robyn of Hohenfels, Germany; brother,Wayne Manhalter and wife Roseland,of Oklahoma; sister, Gladys Kloefkorn of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Casey Anderson and wife Nicole, Levi Kalb, Ashley, Chase, Makayla Manhalter, Victoria Trevino, Gabriela Trevino; and great-grandson, Takoda Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Manhalter in 1995; daughter, Tracy Manhalter; parents, Guy and Emma Manhalter; sisters, Ruth Sloan, Helen Jefferson; and brother, Robert Manhalter.
