Donald Gene Leitzell

Donald Gene Leitzell, 89, beloved husband of Peggy Frasco Leitzell of Apache Junction, AZ and Willard, CO passed away peacefully at his home in Willard, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, with his family surrounding him.

There will be a celebration of Don’s life at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, September 25, at the Chapel of the Plains Church in Stoneham, CO with Pastor Kelly Huenink officiating. Lunch will be served at the community building in Stoneham, immediately following the service.

Don was born in Pittsburg, PA on February 27, 1937, to Guy and Evelyn Leitzell. Don had one brother Richard, all who preceded him in death.

Don graduated high school in McKeesport, PA in 1956 and served his country in the United States Army. Don resided in McKeesport, PA until 1980, when he moved his family to Apache Junction, AZ.

Don’s first wife, Christa Selsam after 40 years of marriage preceded him in death in 2002.

To this union, they had 3 children: Debi (George) Barrera, Donna (Stan) Priest, and Steve (Emily) Leitzell, 4 grandchildren: Jacob Kerr, Katrina Kerr, Peyton Leitzell and Paisley Leitzell and 4 great grandchildren and a very close cousin Mike (Pam) Leitzell.

Don married Peggy in 2004, and they shared the remainder of his life of 23 years doing everything together. Peggy’s children: Lari (Irish) Frasco, Jody (JR) King and John Frasco who is deceased, step-grandchildren Matt Voss, Ryan King, Megan McCaskey, Sarah Dale and Brad Frasco, along with 9 great grandchildren.

Dons’ life was marked with a deep belief in our Lord and never turning someone away in need of help. He was a carpenter and loved to work with his hands. He cherished his family and had a deep love and gratitude for them, being so proud of all they have accomplished. Don had a passion for jeep rock climbing with friends and a lifelong enthusiasm for restoring old cars. Don will be forever loved and remembered by his entire family and friends.
