Donald Eugene Erdman, 87 of Aurora, CO passed peacefully as he was surrounded by his family on Friday, July 28, 2017 at the Denver Hospice Center. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 3rd at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 4th at 10:30 am at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. His final resting place will be at Riverside Cemetery with full military honors.

Donald was born July 14, 1930 in Carson, IA to Frank and Valeta (Taladay) Erdman. Donald attended schools in Carson, IA, Sterling, and Atwood, CO where he completed the 10th grade. Donald was a member of the United State Navy from March 17, 1948 to March 19, 1957 where he served on 6 different submarines (U.S.S. Barbero, U.S.S. Carp, U.S.S. Perch, U.S.S. Picuda, U.S.S. Archerfish and U.S.S. Grenadier). Donald received a Good Conduct Medal as well as other honors and certificates. He was a registered construction electrician working for Register Electric in Sterling, CO and Texas Golf Potash in Moab, UT where he took an early retirement in 1985 at the age of 55.

Donald was a member of the American Legion Post 20 in Sterling, CO and United States Submarine Veterans Holland Club Member at Large. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all Donald was an avid poker player.

Donald married Jane (Logan) Erdman and then later married Cora Lou Bower on October 3, 2009 in Sterling, CO. Donald and Cora Lou relocated to Heather Gardens, Aurora, CO in 2012.

Donald is survived by his wife Cora Lou Bower-Erdman; 3 sons: Frank and (Wendy) Erdman of VA, Patrick and (LuAnn) Erdman of Penn., and Raymond and (Mary) Bower of Greeley; 3 daughters: Sharon (LeRoy) Michael of Holyoke, CO, Lavonne (Michael) Fehringer of Aurora, CO, and Candy (Jon) Marker of Cedar Ridge, CO; 2 sisters: Roma (Perry) Mason of Sterling, CO and Janet (Jack) Wanstreet of Greeley, CO; a brother in-law John Becker of Greeley, CO; eleven grandchildren: Nicole (Duaine) Miller of Denver, CO, Chad (Ashley) Fehringer of Aurora, CO, Joshua (Jillian) Fehringer of Castle Rock, CO, Kelsi, (Travis) Scoles of Aurora, CO, Chance, Aaron, and Ryan Bower all of Greeley, CO, Katie (Ivan) Arvizo of Evans, CO, and Scott (Shante) Michael of Eaton, CO, Sharon (Doug) Campbell of Penn., Justin Marker of Cedar Ridge, CO; twelve great-grandchildren: Konnor Fehringer; Mason, Bentley, and Paisley Fehringer; Hannah and Levi Fehringer, Addison Scoles, Austin and Owen Michael, Deacon and Danika Arvizo, and Bryan Campbell.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Jane (Logan) Erdman, a brother Elwood Erdman, a sister Frankie Becker and a great-granddaughter Grace Scoles.
