Donald Rae Brunner, 85 of San Antonio, TX and longtime Sterling, CO resident passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, August 1, followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m., at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Enrique Salazar as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Donald was born September 29, 1938, to Godfrey Brunner and Grace Knutson. He graduated from Padroni High School in 1956 and farmed for over 60 years on the family farm outside of Padroni. Don married Anna Simon on November 18, 1961, at St. Anthony's in Sterling and they were married for 62 years. They were blessed with three children.
Don was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus for many years. He enjoyed farming, spending time with family, western movies and a friendly game of cards.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Ronnie Brunner, brothers James and William Brunner, and sisters Virginia Amen and Mildred Rose.
Don is survived by his wife Anna; daughters Linda Brunner of Brighton, CO and Jamie (Larry Hewitt) Brunner of San Antonio, TX; granddaughters Nancy Donley of Brighton, CO, Megan Donley of Grand Junction, CO, Katie Donley of Montrose, CO and Lily Hewitt of San Antonio, TX; sister Elizabeth (Richard Anderson) of Clovis, CA; brother-in-law Wayne Rose of Windsor, CO; sisters-in-law Wally Jefferson of Akron, CO, Teresa Maier of Sterling, CO, and Cecelia Mason of Omaha, NE and great grandsons Braxton Gohn of Grand Junction, CO and Gavin McCraney of Montrose, CO.
Contributions may be made in Don's memory to St. Anthony's Catholic Church Building Fund.
