Don Short

Don Short, 77, of Sterling, died April 20, 2007, in Loveland. There was cremation.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Peace Lutheran Church with services concluding at the church. The Rev. Eugene Zeller will officiate.
Mr. Short was born Dec. 31, 1929, to Fred L. and Nancy L. (Lee) Short in Goodland, Kan. He graduated from Goodland High School in 1948. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, ranking as staff sergeant.
On Sept. 5, 1957, he married Donna L. Fixsen in Raton, N.M. He then attended Fort Hays State College, graduating in 1962. He started teaching high school at Tribune, Kan., and in 1963 the family moved to Sterling. He retired in 1984 from Northeastern Junior College, where he taught sociology and political science.
Mr. Short was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge No. 1336, VFW Post No. 3541, and American Legion Post No. 20. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports, as he was an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed coffee with his friends. He was involved in construction and was a brick layer throughout his adult life.
Mr. Short is survived by his wife, Donna L. Short of Sterling; sons, Dan Short and wife LaDonna of Salida, Doug Short and wife Kendra of Sterling, and Dennis Short and wife Tricia of Fleming; sister, Pauline Devolld of California; brother, Bill Short of Longmont; and grandchildren, Victor Short, Zachary Short, Tyler Short, Molly Short, Chelsi Mull, Devon Mull and Tori Mull.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Nancy Short; two brothers and five sisters.
Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church.
