Don K. Bohler, 81 of Sterling, formerly of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 in Sterling, CO. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 3 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Pastor Jared Sonnenberg officiating. Inurnment will held at a later date.
Don was born on February 27, 1936 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois to James and Margaret (Eichum) Bohler. He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School and then served in the U.S. Army. When he returned to Mt. Carmel, he went to work in the maintenance department for the Housing Authority. He retired and remained at the Hi-Rise until 2013, when he moved to Sterling to live with his nephew Hooch. Don enjoyed raising and showing his Bantam chickens. He was a member of the Red Hill Bantam Club.
Don is survived by his nephews, Delbert "Hooch" (Mary) Bohler, Mike (Colleen) Gillespie and JR (Lynnette) Bohler all of Sterling; nieces, Sandy (Kenny) Amen, Cheryl (Steve) Colerick both of Sterling, Ester (Ray) Haug of Sturgis, SD, Missy (Joe) Judge of Mt. Carmel, Ill. and Samantha Kimble of Evansville, IN; sister-in-law, Shirley Bohler of Sterling and special friends, Clarence and Linda Kimble of Allendale, Ill.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Delbert Bohler; sister, Shirley Gillespie; niece, Debbie Bohler and great- great niece, Shaelynn Trump.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Chaney-Reager Funeral Home.
