Dominic Frank Vecchia, 65 passed away, Sunday, June 5, 2016 in Sterling. At his request, a private burial service will be held.
Dominic was born August 4, 1950 in Sterling to Aldo and Esther (Dal Ponte) Vecchia. He grew up in Sterling and graduated from Sterling High School in 1969.
He earned a Ph. D in Statistics from the Colorado State University. He went to work as a statistician for the National Institute of Standards and Technology for 38 years and retired in 2009. During most of his life he lived in Louisville, CO where he enjoyed spending time with his many friends. He enjoyed tractors, gardening, gun collecting and coin collecting.
Dominic is survived by his sister, Verli Stanley and husband Ron; brother, Aldo "Skip" Vecchia and wife Shelly; and five nieces and two nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
