Dempsey Milligan, 88 of Sterling went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 29, 2021. Viewing will be held from 12 – 6 p.m., Thursday, November 18 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 4 – 6 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 19 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Plummer and Pastor Scott McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Dempsey was born January 6, 1933, in Seymour, Missouri to Joe and Minnie (Bell) Milligan. He attended and graduated from Seymour High School. He was a carpenter for Sterling Lumber and worked for the Denver Post for 20 years. Dempsey married Darlena Owens on February 16, 1954, in Seymour, Missouri.
Dempsey was the pastor for New Apostolic Church from 1976 until his passing. He was ordained through the United Pentecostal International, UPCI for over 45 years. He enjoyed collecting coins, fishing, camping, and playing on a softball team. He dearly loved his wife of 67 years, Darlena, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Dempsey also enjoyed family get togethers, having fun with lots of laughter and love and working jigsaw puzzles.
Dempsey served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina and overseas in Athens, Greece for 18 months. He served a total of 8 years and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant.
He is preceded in death by parents Joe and Minnie; brothers Dwight, Kenneth, Buck, and Bert; sisters Ada, Virgie, Wava, Ethel, Elsie, Korena and his daughter Debra (Milligan) Kerker.
Dempsey is survived by his loving wife Darlena; sons Darwin, Dennis and Dalen Milligan; grandchildren Dawna Kaiser, David Milligan, Dani Mendoza, Dena Brunelle, Becky Hutchings, Joseph and Faith Milligan, Kait Sobray, Ashley Frederickson, Destiny Milligan, Daniel and Dakota Williams and Matt Scott; great-grandchildren Angeline, Jaylene and Kylene Jewell, Dylan, Allie and Eli Kaiser, Zerrina Mendoza, Drake Gandee, Drason Horn, Cecil Frederickson and step great-grandson Tristen Stone
