Dee Forest Goddard, 88, of Sterling, Colorado passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 in Sterling. Visitation will be held from 10am to 5pm on Wed., May 3, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:30 am, Thurs., May 4, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Dee was born Oct. 19, 1928 in Phillipsburg, KS to David and Grace (Laycox) Goddard. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School and then attended Kansas State University.
In 1946 when Dee was 19 years old, he started working for the Kansas Nebraska Natural Gas Company. On Nov. 30, 1947 Dee Married Evelyn (Shaw), and the couple lived in Otis, Kansas. Dee and Evelyn then moved to Pawnee Rock, KS where Dee continued working for the gas company. Finally, being transferred to Sterling, CO in 1960, Dee worked for Kansas Nebraska until he retired in 1987 after 41 years with the company.
The love of his life, after his family, was his cars. His goal was to trade for a new car every year. He had so many wonderful friends and enjoyed going to coffee with them every day.
Dee was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Goddard, and son David Goddard.
He is survived by his daughter DeAnne Yost and husband Dennis of Sterling; grandchildren Michelle (Yost) Henry and husband Billy of Crowell, TX, Dana (Yost) Dunkerson and husband Bob of Evans, CO, and Tammy (Goddard) Hilliker and husband Monty of Cheyenne, WY; Great-grandchildren Shelby Henry, Brayden Henry, Bode Dunkerson, Cade Dunkerson, and Cole Hilliker.
