Dawn Marie Haynes, 52, of Fleming, passed away Jan. 14, 2013, following a lingering illness. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with Mike Coakley officiating. Inurnment will be at Burdett Cemetery in Burdett.
Dawn was born May 16, 1960, to Melvin E. and Violet M. (Miller) Gemaehlich in Akron. She moved with her family out of Otis to the family farm in 1965. She attended school at Lone Star.
Dawn worked at the Great Western Sugar Factory in Sterling. When the factory closed down, she went to work for Miller Western Wear until they closed. She then became a flagger, which she loved doing, meeting a lot of people.
On Sept. 4, 1982, she married Darwin Haynes and moved to Fleming, helping with the farming and ranching.
In her spare time she was with her pet cows -- they were her babies -- and her pet rooster, Fred.
She is survived by her husband, Darwin Haynes of Fleming; brother, Gary Gemaehlich and wife Marie of Otis; sisters, Cheryl Mustain and husband Arnold of Otis and Sue Kelley and husband Robert of Weldona; nephew, Tim Kelley and wife Tracy of Kersey; great-nephews, Tate and Tripp of Kersey; one niece and four nephews.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda Sue; sister-in-law, JoAnn Gemaehlich; and father-in-law, Wilmer Haynes.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Plains.
