Davis Collins "Red" Craddock, 75, of Sterling, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, in Loveland. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at First Christian Church with the Rev. Thomas Gosser officiating. Services will conclude at the church.
Red was born Aug. 24, 1933, to James and Okie (Brumfield) Craddock, in Houston, Texas.
In 1954, he married Jan Carrell in Rock Springs, Wyo. They were married 54 years.
Davis joined the U.S. Navy in 1951, and was honorably discharged as chief petty officer. After serving 10 years in the Navy, he went to work for Litton Industries as a field representative. He eventually moved to Sterling in 1971, where he was a general contractor until his semi-retirement in 2007.
Red was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336, I.O.O.F Logan Lodge No. 69, and the Moose Lodge. He served as Grand Master of the State of Colorado I.O.O.F.
Mr. Craddock is survived by his wife, Jan Craddock; son, Michael Craddock of Sterling; daughters, Melissa Craddock of Sterling and Arlo Murphy of Craig; sisters, Frankie Jean Lull of Sterling and June Craddock of Colorado; grandchildren, Katie Murphy of Tampa, Fla., and Tricia Murphy of Denver; great-granddaughter, Madison Murphy of Sterling; nephew, Earl Craddock of Sterling; and beloved friends, Ida and Don McNab of St. Louis, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Earl and James R. Craddock; sisters, Earline and Marie; and son-in-law, Lennie Murphy.
